About Full Glass

Nationally recognized as a nonprofit turnaround expert, Laura
Deaton is the founder of Full Glass, a consulting service focused on building capacity for nonprofit and philanthropic organizations throughout the United States. For over twenty years, Laura has worked extensively in the nonprofit sector; she also had previous careers in healthcare, public relations, and law.

For the last decade, Laura has leveraged her for-profit business skills and her nonprofit leadership expertise to help nonprofits successfully manage major transitions. In just the last five years, she has opened and guided a new nonprofit that is replicating the model of the highly successful Harlem Children's Zone, led a youth mentoring program from complete program closure to a successful five-county merger, crafted a new vision and redesigned programs for a local women's organization, put a struggling symphony orchestra in the black after years of major deficits, and created the infrastructure to allow a new healthcare center to double the number of patients it serves.

Described as a “one-person, nonprofit SWAT team,” she’s a skilled leader and spokesperson, with a keen understanding of the need to run nonprofit organizations  as businesses with goals,  benchmarks and full  accountability and transparency.  Laura also has a  strong hands-on financial, human resource and  operational management approach that creates immediate  and measurable outcomes for her clients.  As a seasoned strategist and recruiter, she works closely with Boards of Directors to build strong business models  that create  the platform for  sustainable success, and then helps recruit and hire the  right long-term  leader to take the organization to its  next level.

A sought-after guest on television and  radio shows, Laura has also been quoted in local and national publications including USA Today, the NonProfit Times and the Chronicle of Philanthropy, where she was the subject of a feature story about her turnaround of a  local Big Brothers Big Sisters organization in the San Francisco bay area.   As a passionate advocate  for the growth of the nonprofit sector, she’s also an accomplished  speaker, with recent  speaking engagements at Institutes and Conferences for the  Association of Fundraising  Professionals,  Blackbaud Corporation, Statewide nonprofit associations, and local community  foundations.

Laura also teaches graduate classes in Catalyzing Community Change for Duquesne University,  and provides ongoing  executive coaching to several nonprofit leaders throughout the country. She is a member of the Society for  Nonprofit Organizations and the Association for Research on Nonprofit  Organizations  and Voluntary action.

Full Glass provides transition support, nonprofit executive search, executive and board coaching,
and  management consulting to nonprofit and philanthropic organizations.  Laura can be reached directly at   (888)784-3433 or via email at Laura.Deaton@FullGlassConsulting.com.
